Help us provide emergency housing for vulnerable LGBTI+ refugees.
Many LGBTI people around the world are victims of persecution and violence because of their sexual or gender identity or intersex status. Those who may leave their countries to seek safety in Spain are often unsafe and face a number of challenges. One of these challenges is homelessness.
Often in the first moments of arrival in Spain the reception system is unresponsive and they are faced with searching for ways to survive and feel safe. The lack of housing exposes them to other situations of abuse and violence.
The abuse faced by LGBTI asylum seekers in accommodation drives many to become homeless at a critical time in their lives as they try to save their lives and secure their right to remain in Spain. This is why ACATHI’s safe emergency housing project is so vital.
