One of ACATHI’s priorities is to share our knowledge and experience, as well as learn from other NGOs and institutions. We believe that participating in forums and conferences about related to refuge, migration and LGBTI issues at international level represents an important opportunity to learn and better ourselves, in order to offer more effective services.
ACATHI, as a member of the Asil.cat network, has travelled to a number of European countries (Germany, Holland, Greece, Hungary…) to better understand the reception issue and other models concerned with both refuge and LGBTI.
Each year we participate in the Conference of ILGA Europe (European Association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and intersex), of which ACATHI is also a member. This platform has enabled us to give voice to a sector of the LGBTI collective that is not always taken into account, as is the case with refugees on grounds of gender identity or sexual orientation.
We also take part in the Platform for Intercultural Europe that, as well as other initiatives, seeks to influence the policies of the European Union focussed around cultural diversity.
The association takes part in international events. An example of this was the UNHCR event of 2016 launching a campaign in favour of refugees.
